WilsonPro explains 5G and why additional hardware repeaters are needed to extend the signal in certain situations, Podcast

Jon Mykrantz, VP of Enterprise Sales speaks to Don Witt of The Channel Daily News, a TR publication about the composition of 5G which has three bandwidth categories:

  • Low-Band – < 1 GHz – Long Distance
  • Mid-Band (C-band) 1GHz – 6 GHz – faster speed shorter distance
  • High-Band Millimeter wave 24 GHz & > Very Fast & short distances
Jon Mykrantz

In addition to the shorter distance, due to its Millimeter wavelength, the signal tends to get absorbed by walls, trees, or normal obstacles in the path of the millimeter wave. In those cases, it would be wise to add a repeater as part of the solution to not only repeat the signal but also amplify the signal. The repeater will assist in turning corners and redirecting the signal to areas previously serviced poorly or not at all.
